How to Clean Your Storz & Bickel Venty

A clean Venty tastes better, draws easier, and keeps that fast, adjustable airflow feeling crisp. Here is the exact routine for the Storz & Bickel Venty: how to take its redesigned cooling unit apart piece by piece, soak it in isopropyl, clean the chamber and screens, and a simple cadence so resin never gets the better of you.

Why cleaning the Venty matters

The Venty is built to last, but every session leaves a thin film of resin in the cooling unit, on the screens, and around the chamber. It builds up faster than you would expect, and left alone it does three things, none of them good:

The good news: the Venty was engineered to be cleaned. Its cooling unit was fully redesigned and comes apart by hand into several named pieces, the materials shrug off an isopropyl soak, and a quick swab keeps the chamber fresh between deep cleans.

🧰 The tools you need

You almost certainly have most of this already. Storz & Bickel includes a cleaning brush in the box, so start there.

ToolWhat it is for
91%+ isopropyl alcoholDissolves resin. Higher percentage means less water, so it cuts grease better and dries faster. 99% is ideal.
Cleaning brushSweeps loose particles out of the chamber and off the screens between sessions. The one in the box is perfect.
Cotton swabsSpot-scrub stubborn marks, press the cooling unit screen out gently, and swab the chamber where a brush cannot reach.
Replacement screensScreens are consumable. Keep a small set on hand so a clogged one never sidelines your Venty.
Warm water + a small dishA shot glass or bowl to soak parts in, and warm water to rinse everything after.
Use the right alcohol, the right wayReach for 91% or higher isopropyl alcohol. Never put alcohol near the heating element or inside the device body, and never run the Venty while any part is still damp. Alcohol belongs on the removable cooling unit parts, screens, and capsules only.

📅 How often should you clean?

You do not need to tear the whole thing down after every bowl. The trick is a layered rhythm: a little upkeep often, a real soak occasionally.

How oftenWhat to doTime
After each sessionEmpty the chamber while warm and brush the chamber and cooling unit screen. Residue lifts off easily when the Venty is still warm.~30 sec
WeeklyOpen the rotary cap, brush both screens, and swab the mouthpiece and vapor path.2 to 3 min
Monthly (or every 10 to 15 sessions)Fully disassemble the cooling unit and soak it. Full routine below.10 to 15 min plus drying
Heavy user? Scale it upIf you vape several times a day, move the deep clean to every two weeks. Weekend-only? Monthly is plenty. Let taste and airflow guide you: when flavor dulls or the draw tightens, it is cleaning day.

🧼 Deep-clean the Venty cooling unit

The Venty cooling unit is a fresh design, so the teardown is different from the older Mighty and Crafty. It separates into more named pieces: the mouthpiece, the mouthpiece seal ring, the rotary cap, the rotary cap seal ring, the cooling unit cap with its screen, and the cooling unit base with the large base seal ring. Work over a clean towel so nothing rolls away.

Let it cool, then lift the cooling unit off

Let the Venty cool fully. It heats up very fast, in about 20 seconds, so it can still be warm right after a session. Remove the cooling unit from the top of the device.

Open the rotary cap

Use the mouthpiece itself as a lever and turn the rotary cap counterclockwise to release it. Lift the cap away from the base.

Separate the named pieces

Pull the mouthpiece free and peel off the mouthpiece seal ring. Remove the rotary cap seal ring from the cap. Now you have the mouthpiece, rotary cap, cooling unit cap with its screen, and the base in hand.

Open the base and free the screen

Turn the cooling unit base 90 degrees counterclockwise to open it, then press the screen out gently from behind with a cotton swab. Lift off the large base seal ring.

Set the seal rings aside

The mouthpiece, rotary cap, and base seal rings do not need to soak. Wipe them with a damp cloth instead. Repeated soaking can swell silicone over time.

Soak the rest in isopropyl

Drop the metal and plastic cooling unit parts plus the screen into a dish of 91%+ isopropyl alcohol. Let them soak up to 30 minutes (10 is plenty for light buildup).

Scrub the stubborn spots

Pull the parts out and work any leftover resin with a cotton swab or the brush dipped in alcohol. The soak does most of the job.

Rinse well with warm water

Rinse every soaked part until there is no alcohol smell left. You do not want to inhale residue on your next session.

Swab out the chamber

Turn the Venty upside down so nothing drips inward. Lightly dampen a swab with alcohol and swab the chamber walls. No liquid should reach the heating element below.

Dry fully, then reassemble

Lay all parts on a towel until bone dry. Reseat the base seal ring and screen, close the base by turning it 90 degrees clockwise, refit the rotary cap and its seal ring, turn the cap clockwise to lock, fit the mouthpiece and its seal ring, and snap the cooling unit back onto the Venty.

🫧 The dishwasher question (an honest owner tip)

This is the part people ask about most, so let us be straight about it. Storz & Bickel does not officially list the Venty cooling unit as dishwasher safe. That official clearance applies to the older classic Mighty and Crafty cooling unit, not the redesigned Venty one.

That said, many owners (us included) have run the fully disassembled Venty cooling unit, with all the seal rings removed, through a normal dishwasher cycle and it works like a charm. It comes out spotless with almost no effort. We are sharing that as a real owner experience, not as a manufacturer-approved method. If you try it, it is at your own discretion.

Take the cooling unit fully apart

Separate the mouthpiece, rotary cap, cooling unit cap, screen, and base, exactly as for the soak.

Remove every seal ring

Keep the mouthpiece, rotary cap, and base seal rings out of the dishwasher and just wipe them. Heat and detergent over many cycles can degrade silicone.

Load the parts securely

Place the small metal and plastic parts in the cutlery basket or a closed mesh bag so nothing flies around. Run a normal cycle.

Air dry completely before reassembly

Let everything dry fully, reseat the seal rings, and you are done. If you would rather stick to the officially supported route, the isopropyl soak above gives the same spotless result.

The honest bottom lineThe isopropyl soak is the method Storz & Bickel supports for the Venty cooling unit. The dishwasher is an owner shortcut that has worked well for us and many others, but it is not officially sanctioned for the Venty, so use it at your own discretion. Either way, this applies to the cooling unit only, never the device body, and always with the silicone seal rings removed.

🔥 Cleaning the filling chamber & screens

The filling chamber is the oven where your herb or dosing capsule sits, and it has its own screen. This part touches your material directly, so keeping it clean has the biggest impact on taste.

Empty while warm

A warm chamber releases spent herb cleanly. Tip it out, then brush the chamber and the filling chamber screen.

Lift out the chamber screen

The screen sits in the base of the chamber. Work it loose with a fingernail or tool so you can clean both sides.

Soak the screen with the cooling unit

Drop it into the same isopropyl soak. Resin on a screen dissolves in minutes.

Rinse, dry, and reseat

Rinse under warm water, dry completely, and press it back in so it sits flat. A screen that sits proud can block the chamber.

Keep liquid out of the ovenNever soak the device body or let alcohol pool in the chamber. The Venty charges over USB-C, so keep liquid well away from the port and the body. Only the removable screen and cooling unit parts go in the dish. The chamber walls get a light swab, nothing more.

💊 Do not forget your dosing capsules

If you vape with dosing capsules in your Venty, they need the same care as the cooling unit. A resin-coated capsule chokes airflow and dulls flavor just like a dirty screen.

Keeping a few spares on hand makes it effortless: clean one set while the other is loaded and ready.

40 vape dosing capsules

Keep a clean rotation going: 40 dosing capsules

Clean capsules last longer and taste better. With a 40-pack you can soak one batch while another is loaded. Reusable, food-grade, sized for the Venty.

♻️ When to replace your screens

Screens are the one part you should treat as consumable. Cleaning extends their life, but they do not last forever. Replace a screen when:

As a rule of thumb, daily users swap screens every 1 to 2 months; lighter users go longer. They are inexpensive and sold in sets, so keep a small stash and replace at the first sign of wear rather than fighting a tired screen.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put the Venty cooling unit in the dishwasher?
Storz & Bickel does not officially list the Venty cooling unit as dishwasher safe; that clearance is for the older classic Mighty and Crafty unit. That said, many owners (us included) have run the fully disassembled Venty unit, with all seal rings removed, through a normal cycle with great results. If you try it, it is at your own discretion. The officially supported method is the isopropyl soak.
How do I open the Venty cooling unit?
Use the mouthpiece as a lever and turn the rotary cap counterclockwise to release it. To open the base, turn it 90 degrees counterclockwise, then press the screen out gently from behind with a cotton swab. From there you can separate the mouthpiece, both cap seal rings, the cooling unit cap and screen, and the base with its large seal ring.
How often should I clean my Venty?
Quick brush-out after each session, a fuller brush-down weekly, and a full soak of the cooling unit roughly monthly (or every 10 to 15 sessions). Heavy daily users should deep-clean every two weeks.
What alcohol percentage should I use?
Use 91% isopropyl alcohol or higher. 99% is ideal because it has the least water, so it dissolves resin better and dries faster. Always rinse with warm water afterward and let parts fully dry.
Is the Venty cooling unit the same as the Mighty's?
No. The Venty cooling unit was redesigned and comes apart into more named pieces: mouthpiece, mouthpiece seal ring, rotary cap, rotary cap seal ring, cooling unit cap with screen, and base with a large seal ring. The Mighty and Crafty use the older classic cap-lock unit, so the teardown steps differ.
Should I soak the silicone seal rings in alcohol?
No. Keep the mouthpiece, rotary cap, and base seal rings out of long soaks. Just wipe them with a damp cloth. Repeated heat or alcohol can swell or degrade silicone and hurt the airtight seal.
Can I use the Venty right after cleaning?
Not immediately. Let every part air dry fully (about 30 minutes to an hour), confirm there is no alcohol smell, reassemble, and run one empty burn-off cycle with a window open before loading material. The Venty heats up in about 20 seconds, so the burn-off is quick.
